MANY THANKS TO HIGH VOLTAGE - Tuesday, May 08, 2012

District 5 would like to thank DJ Ament, owner of High Voltage for having all of us up at his track. Although the turnout was light everyone had fun. The track was in awesome shape. DJ and his team did a outstanding job preparing the track. We look forward to having our District 5 race there on Sunday July 8, 2012.

GIVE ME FIFTY 50'S NEWS - Monday, April 30, 2012

Several friends of the track got together and tried to find a way to make racing even more special for the youngest riders at the Speedway --- those riders who are just beginning to love Arena Cross racing and perhaps don't get all the awards and contingencies that the "big riders" get. They came up the "Give me 50-50's" Series - with our goal of having fifty 50s racing here at the Speedway. Lots of sponsors came aboard for this venture! Our 2012 "Give me 50 - 50s" will be a fun, prize-packed series. Information as follows:

The series runs our final three races of the season: Friday June 29, Friday July 13, and Friday July 27 (Rain make up would be the next day - Saturday). YOU MUST RACE ALL THREE RACES TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE AWARDS AND PRIZES IN THIS SERIES!

We will race the 50 1-2-3-4 and Open 50 (age 4-8) Class. Open 50 (age 4-8) is any AMA-legal 50cc machine.

We will tally the scores, series-style, for the three races in the series. Gift cards to be awarded for the 1st through 5th place finishers, courtesy of MommyGear. There will also be prizes from Silkolene, Fly, Oil Dri and the Steeler Store. Vee Rubber will be awarding LOTS of tires!

Best of all - we have two HD GoPro Helmet Cameras to award. One will be awarded to the Give me 50-50s series winner of the Open 50 (age 4-8) class. The other will be awarded at random to one of the series qualifiers.

You will still be eligible for 2012 Latrobe Series points/racing night trophies on these three nights of racing.

More sponsors are coming aboard - watch for more info!

Rules for the Give me 50-50s series:

1. You must be a member of the AMA and District 5 Motorcycle Association

2. There is a limit of 1 (one) GoPro that can be received by any single competitor. If you happen to win the series in the Open 50 (age 4-8) class, and receive the GoPro as the winner, you will not be eligible for the random drawing.

3. The course referee has final discretion in determining disputes regarding finish position, placement, eligibility, etc. By entering into this competition you agree that the referee's decision is final.

VEE RUBBER - Monday, April 23, 2012

District 5 is excited to announce that Vee Rubber will be a major sponsor at the "Give Me Fifty 50's" events at Latrobe Speedway for 2012 and that talks are under way for Vee Rubber to sponsor more racing events at Latrobe Speedway in 2013. For the 2012 Give Me Fifty 50's events, Vee Rubber has committed to one set of tires for each of the four 50cc classes at each event for total of twelve sets of tires. We can't thank the folks at Vee Rubber enough for their support.

ATTENTION RIDERS AND FAMILY MEMBERS - Tuesday, March 27, 2012

District 5 is a Non-Profit organization that gives its money (your money) back to the District 5 members. Our Executive board is made up of racers. No one on the board is a track owner or promoter. This means we have no “skin in the game” and only want to work with the track owners and promoters to make it a “win win” for racers, parents and promoters. District 5 is still one of the best values for your hard earned dollar. For $15 you get: year-end race awards that will consist of trophies, GoPro's, iPads, racing products, Fly Racing Bucks and GetGo gas cards. In addition, District 5 will race AMA sanctioned races and tracks following AMA racing rules and the AMA advancement points system. There will be giveaways at each District 5 race to members such as gas cards and racing products as well as the trophies. District 5 will also have at least 3 free practice days for its members. Meaning anyone holding a D5 membership card can practice for free. Our first free practice day will be at Roaring Knob on Sunday April 1, 2012. We feel one of the most important things we will be trying out at two of our tracks, Roaring Knob and High Voltage, will be 10 min +2 lap motos along with a 20 minute practice session for all racers. This will give racers about 60 minutes of actual track time per race. We will also be testing out a pre-set moto order so folks know when their races will be. This will allow more family time on the weekends. A few other things that stand out in District 5 is Vet C class, Pre 1990 Open Class and our 50-50 (special 50cc series).

District 5 will once again have an annual awards banquet. The District 5 banquet is second to none. The following series will be awarded at the banquet: Arenacross, Motocross and Quads. To qualify for year-end awards, a rider must race half of the series races plus 1. The breakdown is as follows: Motocross - 7, Arenacross - 4, Quads - 6

Our season kicks off this Sunday April 1st with a free practice for all District 5 members at Roaring Knob Raceway. Membership cards can be purchased on Sunday at the track. Then our racing season begins on Friday April 20th under the lights at Latrobe (arenacross) followed by outdoor motocross at Rocket Raceway on Sunday April 22nd, a factory contingency paid race. Check out our schedule and all the latest racing news at www.district5ama.com or www.district5ama.org. Come bring your family and race with us at District 5. I promise you won't be disappointed!!

District 5 is proud to announce a new membership promotion. When you buy a membership in District 5 we will give you a free bumper sticker and another one to put on your bike. The bumper sticker can be placed anywhere you like to help promote your membership in an association run mostly with volunteers that are dedicated to YOU the rider!!

PRICE DECREASE - Friday, March 02, 2012

Great News!! To help riders keep a few extra bucks in their pocket, the District 5 membership has been reduced 25%. The new price for new memberships and renewals will be $15.00. We are doing our best to keep this sport affordable and we want to attract new folks to the sport as well. There will still be a $5 one day pass for folks who do not want or need the full membership. For those folks who already paid the old price of $20, we will be issuing refunds. If you have any questions regarding refunds or don't receive your refund within the next 7 days, please send an email over to Nick, the District 5 Treasurer. Same great benefits at a lower price.
